Saturday Tennis Sessions This summer at Longview we are hosting three new opportunities for players of all ages. Visiting tennis pros/coaches, Erik Donley and Luciano Battaglini will be offering Saturday drill and play sessions on June 23, July 21, and August 18. Rain day on Sunday.
The daily sessions will be as follows:
8-9am, 4-10 years old - $10; 9:00-10:30, 10-15 years old - $25; 10:30-12:30, High School players - $35; and 1pm-3pm, Adults - $35.
Adult Drills
Adult Drills will be available on Monday and Wednesday mornings
at 7:45am and Tuesday and Thursday evenings TBA. The
cost is $10.00 for Longview members and $15.00 for non-members.
Sign up the before each session in the Longview Clubhouse
or by calling the clubhouse at 724-5227. Drills will be held
weather permitting. Call the clubhouse for weather conditions.
USTA Leagues
The first week of June will be the start of the USTA Tennis
League. All League members must also be Longview members.

Dale Heimbach Wheeler Scholarship
This scholarship was established in honor of Dale's memory
by her husband Tom. The scholarship is awarded annually to
local graduating seniors who have been part of the Longview
community and are going on to college. Last year's recipients
were Jane Cowles and Jason Paul. Scholarship
applications for 2007 graduates are available in the clubhouse,
or online in PDF or
Word Document formats. The deadline for the application to be turned into Longview is August 1, 2007.
Junior Team The 2007 JR Team will begin the week June 11 and will end August 9. JR Team program involves players who meet certain standards of ability and experience. All players will try-out the first week and from there they will be divided into two different teams. Players who make one of the two teams will participate in one of two daily sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week. It is anticipated players may move between groups during the summer based on ability and improvement. Times typically from 12:30-2 :00PM or 2:00-3:30PM.
Competitive matches against other teams will be set-up throughout the summer at Longview and other communities. USTA Junior Team program is very popular around the country as it mixes boys, girls, and competitive play. Parents may be asked to help carpool kids to and from matches. Some players may have the opportunity to represent Longview at the sectional playoffs in early to mid August. JR Team program includes USTA membership, Junior Longview membership, T-shirt, and video analysis. The cost will be $280 for the entire summer.
High School Drills
The 2007 HS Team will begin the week of June 11 and will end August 9. HS Team involves competitive players who are at least going into the ninth grade in the fall or have played varsity tennis. This program will involve intense drills and match play. Players will participate in either morning drills or afternoon drills and match play once a week. The week of August 7th all girls will participate in a high school tune-up camp, which is included in the cost of the HS team.
Competitive matches against other teams will be setup throughout the summer at Longview and other communities. Players will have to provide their own trasnportation. This is a part of the USTA Junior Team program that is very popular around the country as it mixes boys, girls, and competitive play. Some players may have the opportunity to represent Longview at the sectional playoffs in early to mid-August. HS Team program includes USTA membership, Junior Longview membership, T-shirt, and video analysis. The cost will be $280 for the entire or $140 for each four-week session.
Junior Group Lessons
Tennis lessons will be offered at the following times: 8:45-9:15am or 9:15-9:45 for Beginners (ages 4-7), 10-10:50am for Intermediates (ages 8-11), and 11-11:50am for Advanced players (ages 11 & up). These lessons are offered in two week sessions, Monday-Thursday each week. Groups will be limited to 20 players. Fees are $35 for members and $40 for non-members.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are available for all ages. Talk to one of
our fine tennis professionals about setting up private lessons
for 1,2,3, or 4 people.
