YOUTH OPEN PLAY
Youth Open Plays are for youth tennis players to practice match play and competing. This is not a beginner (never played before) group, but players will have a range of playing ability/experience from intermediate-advanced. The coaches present will help similar-ability players group together. Coaches will also give strategy advice and stroke corrections. Match play format can be time-based, sets, games or tiebreaks and can be singles and/or doubles. A warm-up will be followed by match play.
The cost is FREE for Longview members or $5.00 for non-members. Please check-in and pay at the desk before you play.
Sign up before each Youth Open Play through the SignUp link. Sign-up to ensure a spot. Do not come if you are not signed up for a spot. There is a maximum of 24 players.
Cancellation will be made on the Longview FB page and an email from SignUp will be sent out.
Any “No-shows” are expected to pay for their spot. Open Plays will be held weather permitting.
Youth Open Play is Monday-Thursday from 1-2pm
Longview Tennis Camp (LTC) is our programming for the competitive youth tennis player. The players will learn strategies in both singles and doubles, and will spend time working on stroke development, physical fitness, mental tennis, tennis etiquette and match play.
This is an 8-week program with 2 different levels starting on June 8, 2026.
Players added by invitation only after filling out the interest form at bottom of page by April 15, 2026.
Selected players will be contacted by April 25, 2026.
Most of the players selected will have already been a part of a high school level team, and/or are the more competitive and skilled players in the area.
**If you know your player is an advanced beginner-beginner intermediate player and has some team experience, sign them up here for the highest level of youth lessons (11-12pm, which will be similar to the past "Rising Stars" group).
Our staff will utilize these ability descriptions for each group to assign players to the appropriate group based on your player’s tennis skills:
All strokes LTC players should already know how to hit: Serve, forehand and backhand groundstrokes, approach shot, forehand and backhand volleys, overhead, drop shot
Concepts LTC players should already know about: topspin, slice, continental grip, topspin forehand grip, racket preparation and swing path for a stroke
*Longview reserves the right to move players into the group to best facilitate tennis development. In this ability-based grouping, there will be a range of ages in each group.
*All LTC participants will get free entry into the Longview Junior City Tournament (must sign up), which will be held July 27-July 30, 2026.
*Contact us at Longviewtennis@gmail.com for any scholarship need for LTC
